[ISP] Putnamville Troopers Earn Longevity Awards

Putnamville—During a post meeting on October 9, six Putnamville troopers were recognized for their time with the Indiana State Police. Three troopers were recognized for 20 plus years of service and three were upgraded from Senior Trooper to Master Trooper. The awards/recognitions were presented by Putnamville District Commander Lieutenant Dan Jones.

First Sergeant Jeff Hearon, Putnamville District Investigative Commander, was recognized for 25 years of service with the ISP. Hearon served his first seven years as a road trooper. In 1995, Hearon competed for and received a detective assignment. In 2005, he was promoted to Detective Sergeant and in 2005 received a promotion to his current rank of First Sergeant. Hearon also served 16 years on the ISP Emergency Response Team and has been awarded many letters of accommodation. Hearon is also a US Marine Corps veteran. The Hearon family resides in Hendricks County.

Sergeant Jared Nicoson was recognized for 20 years of service with the department. Nicoson served his first sixteen years on the department as a road trooper with numerous temporary assignments to Marijuana eradication. Nicoson was promoted to sergeant in 2009 and has been the supervisor of Clay County troopers since. Nicoson was a prior member of the both ISP Tactical Intervention Platoon and Meth Suppression team. He has received many accolades for his work performance throughout his career. The Nicoson family resides in rural Clay County.

Detective Brian Maudlin currently serves in the investigations section of the Putnamville Post. Maudlin served his first seven years with the department as a road trooper, the next six years in the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division as a grant writer, and the last seven as a detective. Maudlin has received numerous letters of accommodation during his tenure. He is a US Marine Corps and Army National Guard veteran. The Maudlin family resides in Hendricks County.

Master Trooper DuJuan Presley-McFadden was upgraded from Senior Trooper to Master Trooper. McFadden has served as a road trooper his entire career, except for four years in Governor’s Security and one year in motor patrol. He has received letters of accommodation along the way. He resides in Hendricks County.

Master Trooper Deanna Jones was upgraded from Senior Trooper to Master Trooper. Jones served her first eight years as a road trooper, the next six as a detective in criminal investigations and the last year as a detective in the drug enforcement section. She is a prior field training officer and has many letters of accommodation. The Jones family resides in rural Parke County.

Master Trooper Jason Schoffstall was upgraded to Master Trooper from Senior Trooper. Schoffstall has served as a road trooper his entire career and currently patrols Vigo County. Schoffstall is a past recipient of a US Marshal’s Service Award, which he received in 2011 at the National Police Week in Washington D.C. He and his family reside in rural Vigo County.
