[ISP] Four Arrested for Dealing Meth
Start Date: 10/15/2013Start Time: 12:00 AM
End Date: 10/15/2013End Time: 11:59 PM
Entry Description

Shirley – Four people were arrested early this morning as a result of an ongoing meth investigation by the Pendleton District Meth Suppression Squad, the Shirley Police Department and the Knightstown Police Department. Officers worked closely with Henry County Prosecutor Joe Bergacs during the investigation and obtained a search warrant for a home at 3130 South Shirley Rd. They served that warrant at 5 this morning.

Arrested in the home was a female named Araceli Duenas, age 21, and a male named Charlos Knight, age 24. Both listed their address as “at large.” The two who normally live at the 3130 Shirley Road address were arrested at the home of a relative they were visiting in Kennard. Arrested in Kennard was Richard Smith, age 31, and Nicole Ostertag, age 22.

During the search of the home and a car, officers found over one and half pounds of crystal methamphetamine with a street value of close to $68,000. Crystal Meth differs from regular meth only by being in a crystallized form rather than a powder form.

All four people were charged with Dealing Methamphetamine; Class “A” Felony; Possession of Methamphetamine over Three grams Class “B” Felony; Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Class “D” Felony and Neglect of a Dependant, Class “D” Felony. The Neglect charge stems from a child in the home that was turned over to Division of Child Services.

Officers were assisted at both scenes by the Henry County Sheriff’s Department. Meth Labs are often found as a result of an anonymous tip from a neighbor or friend. Anyone with information about illegal drug use may call the Pendleton Post at 1-800-527-4752, or the Indiana State Police Drug Tip Line at 1-800-453-4756. Tips can be made and kept anonymous.

The Indiana Meth Investigation System or IMIS, can also take tips on meth labs. Just go to www.meth.in.gov and click on the “Report Suspected Meth Activity” Link. Also available on the meth site is information regarding meth statistics, meth lab cleanup, educational videos and materials about meth manufacturing and addiction.
