Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann Welcomes

Town of Albion to the Indiana Main Street Program

Indianapolis - Lieutenant Governor Sue Ellspermann announced that the Super Town of Albion Revitalization (S.T.A.R.) Team is joining the Indiana Main Street (IMS) Program. The IMS program encourages economic development, redevelopment and improvement to the downtown areas of Indiana’s cities and towns.

“Developing a strong business climate in our downtowns is crucial for community development,” said Lt. Governor Ellspermann. “I’m pleased to welcome Albion to the Indiana Main Street Program.  Whether it’s the Harvest Chili Cook Off or the preservation of historic downtown buildings, focusing on the downtown area can revitalize the heart of our communities.”

The S.T.A.R. Team will join more than 115 other Indiana Main Street Communities dedicated to the revitalization of their downtown areas.  The IMS is founded on a Four Point Approach to downtown development:  organization, design, promotion and economic restructuring. Each of these points represents an aspect of the downtown which is vital in the restoration efforts of the community.  The IMS is administered by the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA).

Indiana Main Street Program Manager Shae Kmicikewycz stated, “We are glad to have the S.T.A.R. Team as part of the Indiana Main Street family.  The new organization has the support of the broader community which understands the importance of a thriving downtown.  We look forward to the improvements that will be made to downtown Albion through the S.T.A.R. Team.”
