Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann to Address the Indiana Rural Summit

Indianapolis - Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann, Richard Longworth and Jack Hess are the featured speakers at the Indiana Rural Summit 2013, which will be held this year on October 3-4 at the Sheraton Indianapolis at Keystone Crossing, Indianapolis.

In its seventh year, the Indiana Rural Summit is where Indiana’s business, economic development, education and philanthropic sectors gather to discuss ideas for advancing rural Indiana.

Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann will close the second day of the Rural Summit by outlining the opportunities available for Indiana’s rural communities.

“We are making significant strides in rural Indiana by creating a quality of place for communities. Challenges remain but I am confident that by working together we can ensure that rural Indiana will attract and retain a talented workforce,” said Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann.

Day one of the summit will feature renowned author, Richard Longworth, author of Caught in the Middle: American’s Heartland in the Age of Globalism.  Longworth will challenge attendees to confront the reality of today’s rural dynamics and what this means for policy makers.

Jack Hess, executive director of the Institute of Coalition Building, will kick off day two of the Rural Summit.  The institute helps communities across the country build coalitions to solve their most important challenges.

The Indiana Rural Summit is a collaborative effort of the Indiana Rural Roundtable, a network representing businesses, organizations and institutions which are committed to the advancement of Indiana’s rural communities.

The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs was created by legislation in 2005, making rural Indiana a major focus for the first time. For additional information on OCRA and its programs visit
