Entry Description

Delaware County – An Ontario man died this morning when the semi-tractor he was sleeping in was consumed by flames. This morning about 5:40 a.m. State Police Captain Andy Coffee was south bound on I-69 when he saw the fully engulfed truck on the berm of the ramp from the rest area onto I-69 south at the 251 mile marker. The Gaston Fire Department responded to the scene to extinguish the blaze.

Once the flames were extinguished a body was found in the sleeper of the truck. Killed in the blaze was Baljinder Dhami, age 30, of Brampton Ontario. The truck, a 2013 Peterbilt registered to Karnipal Goods in Brampton, was a total loss. The box trailer which was loaded with food items was also a total loss.

A State Fire Marshall Investigator was sent to the scene to investigate the fire. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death. Any further questions about the fire should be directed to the State Fire Marshall’s Office.
