Rep. Frye hosts Natural Gas Summit
STATEHOUSE - Representative Randy Frye (R-Greensburg) hosted a Natural Gas Summit at the Indiana Chamber of Commerce on Thursday to discuss legislative proposals on the future of the compressed natural gas as a motor vehicle fuel. Key stakeholders from several industry sectors participated in the meeting including legislators, manufacturers of natural gas engines and vehicles, distributors of natural gas including utilities, builders of fuel stations and state agency representatives.
“Compressed natural gas vehicles would bring many great opportunities to Indiana,” said Rep. Frye. “Indiana will continue to lead in the areas of new and innovative energy programs. In addition, this will bring many high quality jobs to our state in areas including manufacturing and regulation.”
The summit brought together key leaders from both the public and private sectors for the purpose of continuing the conversation started in July focused on promoting initiatives to increase the number of compressed natural gas vehicles on Hoosier roads. Some of the benefits to compressed natural gas include cost savings over gasoline, clean energy, creation and reduced dependence on foreign oil.
“Discussing these critical issues is vital to bringing expanded energy resources to Indiana. As we move forward I am encouraged by the amount of leaders from both the public and private sectors that have expressed their desire to work towards creating the best proposal for Indiana,” said Rep. Frye.
