Indiana Emergency Medical Services Commission Appoints Board Members

INDIANAPOLIS—Four new members were appointed to the Indiana Emergency Medical Services Commission was including new Chairman, Lee Turpen and new Vice Chairman, Charles Valentine.

Other new appointments are:

Dr. Stephen Champion, Medical Doctors (MD), Columbus, is the medical director of information services at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Darin Hoggat, Paramedics, Greenwood, is a master firefighter and paramedic with the Greenwood Fire Department.

Reappointments:

Melanie Craigin Hospital EMS, Williamsport, term expires June 30, 2015.

Michael Lockard, General Public,Vanderburgh.

Myron Mackey, EMTs, Vincennes.

Dr. Michael Olinger, Trauma Physicians, Marion, term expires June 30, 2015.

Charles Valentine, Municipal Fire-Vice Chairman Indianapolis, term expires June 30, 2015.

John Zartman, Training Institution, Marion.

Ed Gordon, Volunteer Fire EMS, term expires June 30, 2014

Sue Dunmah, Emergency Nurses, term expires June 30, 2014.

The Indiana Emergency Medical Services Commission is responsible for developing and promoting a statewide program for the provision of emergency medical services (EMS). The Commission regulates, inspects and certifies ambulance services, facilities and EMS personnel engaged in providing emergency medical services across the state. The EMS Commission adopts rules required to implement a statewide system of emergency medical services, including the recent adoption of a rule to ensure proper triage and transportation of trauma patients.

There are twelve appointed members, with differing political parties. All terms expire June 30, 2016 unless otherwise indicated.
