Entry Description
Sullivan County—Today at 7:30 a.m., Indiana State Police troopers and Sullivan County emergency agencies responded to a two-vehicle crash in Carlisle that involved a Southwest Sullivan School Corporation Bus and an SUV. There were minor injuries to the driver of the SUV, no injuries to the bus driver and there were no students on the bus.
Preliminary investigation revealed a 2008 Thomas sixty-six passenger school bus, driven by 55-year-old Mary Pirtle of Carlisle, was eastbound on Lewis Street and stopped for a stop sign at Alexander Street. A 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by 55-year-old Dana Taylor, was westbound on Lewis Street and also stopped for a stop sign at Alexander Street. Both vehicles proceeded ahead at the same time, with the school bus turning left into the Tahoe.
Ms. Taylor was transported to the Sullivan County Community Hospital for examination and later released. No defects were found on the school bus and no citations were issued.
The crash was investigated by ISP Master Trooper Chuck Tharp. Assisting were ISP Master Trooper Polly Blackburn, Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, Carlisle Ambulance Service, and Haddon Township Fire Department. |
