VERSAILLES, Ind.—The Indiana Department of Child Services announced today Michelle Russell has been appointed local office director of the Ripley Co. office of DCS. In her new role Michelle will set goals and objectives for child welfare management helping to ensure children are protected from abuse or neglect. In addition, she’ll oversee a team of seven that includes family case managers, supervisors and clerical staff. She’ll also handle general office operations.
“We’re delighted Michelle will be managing day-to-day operations in Ripley County,” said Dave Judkins, DCS’ Deputy Director of Field Operations. “With an abundance of practical experience working with abused and neglected children as well as several years of supervisory know-how, Michelle is well equipped to be a true leader and serve her county well.”
A life-long Indiana resident, Michelle was born and spent her childhood in neighboring Dearborn Co. She has degrees in sociology and child development/family studies from Purdue University.
Beginning her career with DCS in 1990 as a family case manager in Floyd Co., Michelle transferred to Ripley Co. in 1993. She had been a supervisor there since 2001.
Michelle began her new duties in Ripley Co. in September.
