INDOT Announces 20 minute Closures on I-65 in Boone County begin Tonight

Contractor will be setting beams on the I-65 Bridge over Prairie Creek

BOONE COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announce there will be 20 minute lane closures on I-65 in the northbound lanes in Boone County beginning tonight Monday, October 29 and continue tomorrow night from 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m., weather permitting.  Crews will be setting beams on the I-65 Bridge over Prairie Creek, between mile markers 141-142.  These temporary stops will occur in 20 minute increments during construction.  INDOT will allow traffic to clear out before stopping motorists again.  Police officers will be assisting INDOT and Reith-Riley with the closures on I-65.

Reith-Riley Construction Company, Inc. and designer R.W. Armstrong were awarded the $41,455,610 Major Moves design build contract.  The project on I-65 will add an additional lane in each direction and reconstruct the existing lanes of I-65 from six tenths of a mile north of State Road 32 to one half mile south of Boone County Road 100 East.  This project also includes rebuilding the State Road 39 Bridge over I-65 and the I-65 Bridge over Prairie Creek and rehabilitating the bridge over Lafayette Ave.  The project is scheduled to be completed in July of 2013.

This construction project has a reduced speed limit and has been targeted by the Indiana State Police and the Boone County Sheriff’s Department for increased enforcement activities in an effort to reduce speeding in the work zone.  INDOT encourages motorists to slow down and pay special attention while traveling in work zones throughout Indiana. For the latest news and information about INDOT, please visit www.in.gov/indot.
