Entry Description State Sen. Jim Merritt (R-Indianapolis) made the following statement today regarding the charges filed against a local store owner accused of selling outlawed synthetic drugs:
“I commend the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department for their hard work and dedication in cracking down on this local retailer that has been caught selling dangerous synthetic drugs. We cannot continue to simply react to the drug manufacturers who are substituting different ingredients to get around the law. It is time to kick into proactive mode, not reactive, and that is what these charges represent. I also hope these charges send a message to other store owners who choose to ignore drug laws that Indiana is serious about getting these harmful drugs off of our streets and out of the hands of Hoosiers.”
Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry today announced local smoke shop owner Christopher Tiplick has been charged with 18 felonies for allegedly selling banned synthetic drugs. Last month, Curry, Zoeller and the IMPD put retailers on notice that the illegal sale of synthetic drugs and look-alike substance would be prosecuted.
