Entry Description
"College on sale" Financial Aid Forum (Evansville, IN)
To help parents and students make college more affordable, the Indiana Youth Institute (IYI) is hosting a forum on finding free money. The presentation will help participants better understand the financial aid process and show them how to search for scholarships and grants.
The forum will feature Matt Krieg of ISM College Planning. He will give tips on saving for college, filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form and where to look for little known scholarships.
The forum will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 16 at Southern Indiana Career and Technical Center, 1901 Lynch Rd., Evansville, 47711.
As part of IYI’s Youth Worker Café program, the forum is free and lunch will be served, but reservations are required. To make a reservation, email IYI Southwest Indiana Field Representative Joe Shrode at jshrode@iyi.org or call 800-426-6558.
The average tuition and fees at Indiana’s public colleges have increased more than 100 percent over the past decade and nearly two-thirds of Hoosiers graduate with college debt, according to the Indiana Commission for Higher Education.
