[INDOT] Intermittent I-69 Lane Restrictions Scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday Nights, October 3 and 4
Start Date: 10/3/2012 All Day
End Date: 10/4/2012
Entry Description
ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces intermittent lane restrictions on I-69 just north of Exit 316, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., on Wednesday night, October 3, and Thursday night, October 4.

Work on the Union Chapel Road interchange bridge has progressed to a point that the bridge deck is ready to be poured. The concrete pour requires the restriction of specific lanes on I-69 beneath the bridge while work takes place overhead. Outside of specific lane restrictions at any given time, the interstate will remain open to traffic during the work.

Arrow boards and barrels will direct traffic during the intermittent lane restrictions. Each of the two northbound and two southbound lanes will be affected at some point during this critical phase of the bridge construction. The concrete pours are expected to take up to five hours each night. All lane restrictions are currently expected to take place between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Weather permitting, it is expected that the bridge deck pour will be complete by 5 a.m. on Friday morning, October 5.

INDOT reminds drivers that the Union Chapel Road interchange area is a construction zone, with a speed limit of 55 mph strictly enforced on I-69 starting at approximately the I-469 interchange from the south (Exit 315) and at approximately mile marker 319 from the north. Temporary speed limits of 45 mph are imposed when lights are flashing. Please use caution and consider worker safety when driving through any construction zone. The penalties for speeding and driving recklessly in a work zone include fines of up to $1,000 for speeding in a work zone and up to $5,000 for reckless or aggressive driving in a work zone. Drivers who injure or kill a highway worker may find themselves paying a $10,000 fine or serving up to eight years behind bars.
