IDEM invites citizens to a public informational meeting followed by a public hearing about an air permit for St. Joseph Energy Center, LLC in New Carlisle, Indiana. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. EDT (5 p.m. CDT) and the public hearing will begin at 7 p.m. EDT (6 p.m. CDT) on Thursday, October 4, 2012, in the Cougar Den at New Prairie High School, 5333 N. Cougar Road, in New Carlisle.

St. Joseph Energy Center, LLC has applied to IDEM’s Office of Air Quality for a new source construction and Part 70 operating permit. IDEM has drafted an air permit, which the public may review. If approved, the permit would allow St. Joseph Energy Center, LLC to construct and operate a combined cycle combustion turbine electric generating facility.

IDEM staff will be available during the informational meeting to answer questions and accept written comments from the public. IDEM staff will accept oral and written comments about the draft air permit during the public hearing. 

Individuals unable to attend the meeting or hearing can submit written comments via mail, e-mail, fax or hand-delivery to IDEM through Tuesday, October 9, 2012. Comments should refer to permit number 141-31003-00579.

• IDEM's Central File Room, 12th floor of the Indiana Government Center North building, 100 North Senate Avenue, Indianapolis. To ensure a copy is available upon arrival, individuals should contact Central File Room staff at (317) 232-8667 beforehand to make arrangements. The IDEM Central File Room is open Monday through Friday, excluding official holidays, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. (local time).
