Entry Description
Tier III Basic Investigators Training
Tier III Basic Training is a three (3) week course. Week one (1) is the pre-basic course obtained by the agency or another agency that hosts pre-basic courses. Week two (2) and week three (3) consist of training held at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and are focused on investigations.
Tier III Basic Training is a course focused on an agency whose primary mission is investigations. Agencies such as the Inspector General’s Office, Prosecuting Attorney Investigators, Attorney General Medicaid Fraud, Secretary of the State Investigators, and Fire Investigators. To be eligible to attend the Tier III Basic Training, the investigator must be a paid, sworn officer employed by one of the agencies mentioned above. Other agencies, whose primary function is in investigative skills for prosecution, may be eligible. All inquires should be directed to the ILEA Registrar’s office.
Officers are required to complete the forty (40) hour pre-basic course prior to enrolling in the Tier III Basic Training. In addition, CPR/AED (adult, child, and infant) Heimlich certification must be obtained through their own agency or community. Proof of completion must be sent to the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy before the officer will be LETB Tier III Basic Training certified.
Tier III Basic Training must be completed within one year of being hired by the agency.
Registration MUST be made through the ILEA Acadis registration system.
