End Date: 4/13/2017
Entry Description
CARMEL, Ind. (April 13, 2017) – The Brookfield Group, a full-service technology company, announced plans today to expand its operations in central Indiana, investing in its Carmel headquarters and downtown Indianapolis data center. As part of its growth, the company plans to create up to 31 new high-wage jobs by 2021.

“The Brookfield Group is the perfect example of how Indiana’s tech community continues to invest in itself and support the development of a growing, thriving industry ecosystem,” said Elaine Bedel, president of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. “Paired with the state’s robust business climate and local communities’ dedication to innovation, it’s clear that Indiana is primed to be the ideal Midwestern home for tech, helping entrepreneurs propel their ideas and business plans to the next level.”

The company, which specializes in helping small businesses customize their technology systems, will invest $7 million to enhance its central Indiana operations, installing high-availability voice and data systems, on-demand storage, cloud failover systems and complete scalable virtual systems at its 11,000-square-foot headquarters at 12400 N. Meridian St. in Carmel. It addition, The Brookfield Group will update its downtown Indianapolis data center to accommodate the growing demand for its voice and data cloud services. Over the past five years, the company’s revenue has grown by 35 percent annually as the demand for its IT products – including hosted private cloud services, Office 365, hosted voice services and managed IT services – continues to grow.

In addition to investing in its operations, The Brookfield Group has also partnered with Indianapolis-based The Speak Easy to open a 10,000-square-foot co-working space in the same building as its headquarters. Platform 24, which officially opened today, is Carmel’s first co-working space and will allow The Brookfield Group to help support other innovators and entrepreneurs in the community.

“Carmel, Indiana, has been home for The Brookfield Group for 30 years,” said Fadi Abdallah, founder and chief executive officer of The Brookfield Group. “Giving back to the community that supported you is the right thing to do. Carmel is a growing community and The Brookfield Group is dedicated to its success.”

The Brookfield Group, which also has offices in St. Louis and Glasglow, Scotland, employs nearly 40 full-time associates in Indiana and plans to add 31 new positions in in both Carmel and Indianapolis. These positions are expected to pay an average wage nearly 50 percent higher than the state average wage. The company is currently hiring system engineers and technical account managers. Interested applicants can learn more through the company’s website and apply by sending a resume to careers@thebrookfieldgroup.com.

Founded in 1987, The Brookfield Group serves clients in the health care, manufacturing, energy, legal and retail industries, working with them to use technology to better compete in the digital economy. The company also offers managed, advisory and communication tech services, in addition to helping its clients with cloud computing, project management and disaster recovery.

“This is exciting news for The Brookfield Group and the city of Carmel, where we focus our economic development efforts on attracting high-paying, high-tech jobs like those being created with this announcement," said Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard. "We join in celebrating with Fadi Abdallah and his team and we look forward to watching them continue to grow and succeed.”

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered The Brookfield Group LLC up to $235,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $100,000 in training grants based on the company’s job creation plans. These incentives are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives. The city of Carmel supports the project, and the city of Indianapolis supports the project in partnership with Develop Indy, a business unit of the Indy Chamber.

The Brookfield Group is the latest in a long line of tech companies recently announcing their expansion plans in central Indiana. According to real estate firm CBRE, that momentum has helped tech jobs in the Indianapolis area increase by nearly 30 percent between 2013 and 2015, ranking fifth in the nation.

"Technology infrastructure will be pivotal to sustain the growth Indianapolis has enjoyed over the last few years," said Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett. "We're excited that the expansion of The Brookfield Group means meeting the demands of central Indiana employers who are looking to streamline their technology needs and create an environment for scalability."
