The morning will begin at 9 a.m. CDT with Chartier setting up hummingbird traps at the nature center feeders and then banding birds. At 1 p.m. at the nature center, Chartier will present his research on ruby-throated hummingbirds and tips for attracting them.

“For visitors that have never seen a hummingbird in the hand and up close, it’s a magical experience,” said park interpreter Brad Bumgardner.

Participation is free after paying the standard gate fee of $5 per Indiana vehicle and $10 per out-of-state vehicle. For more information, call the nature center at (219) 926-1390.
