Disaster Loans Now Available to Non-Profits in Allen County

The U.S. Small Business Administration has added Allen County to the disaster declaration for the severe winter storm on Jan. 5-9, bringing the total number of counties to 29.

This disaster declaration now covers the following counties: Allen, Blackford, Boone, Clay, Clinton, Fulton, Hamilton, Hendricks, Huntington, Jasper, Johnson, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Madison, Marion, Montgomery, Morgan, Newton, Noble, Owen, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan, Tipton, Vanderburgh, Vigo, Wabash, White, and Whitley.

Private non-profit organizations that do not provide critical services of a governmental nature in Allen County are eligible to borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace damaged assets such as real estate, equipment, and inventory. Organizations eligible include food kitchens, homeless shelters, community centers, and libraries.

How to Apply

Disaster loan information can be completed on SBA’s secure website at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela/.

Applications can also be downloaded from the SBA website at www.sba.gov. Completed applications should be mailed to: U.S. Small Business Administration, Processing and Disbursement Center, 14925 Kingsport Road, Fort Worth, TX 76155.

For questions about eligibility, applying, or loan terms, please call the SBA’s Customer Service Center at 800-659-2955 (800-877-8339 for the deaf and hard of hearing), or by sending an email to disastercustomerservice@sba.gov.

The deadline to return applications for physical property damage is June 23, 2014.

Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL)


The SBA is also offering Economic Injury Disaster Loans to help private non-profits meet financial needs, which include payroll, working capital, and other business financial commitments. EIDL assistance is available regardless of whether the business suffered any physical property damage.

The deadline to return economic injury applications is January 22, 2015.
