[INDOT - East Central] Crews Replacing Reflective Markers on State Road 3 (Henry & Delaware counties)

Crews Replacing Reflective Markers on State Road 3

EAST CENTRAL INDIANA – Contractors for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) begin today replacing snowplowable reflective pavement markers on State Road 3 between State Road 38 and State Road 67.

Crews recently replaced markers on US 40 between Greenfield and Richmond and started today north of New Castle to Muncie. Work is dependent on favorable weather and is expected to be complete in the next few weeks. Crews plan to work between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. each day and will require alternating lane restrictions as work progresses along State Road 3.

The pavement markers are a safety device used on roads to enhance visibility and delineation by reflecting an automobile’s headlights. Markers are embedded into the pavement and have a smooth housing that minimizes contact with snow plow blades. The color of the reflectors typically matches the yellow and white painted stripes on the roadway. Blue reflectors are also commonly used to identify locations of fire hydrants.

Motorists should be alert for lane restrictions and the crews working on State Road 3 in Henry and Delaware counties during daylight hours. Always practice safe driving habits in work zones, including following speed limits, maintaining safe distances from other vehicles, and avoiding all distractions.

Motorists, residents and businesses are encouraged to visit www.indot.in.gov and subscribe to email updates using the GovDelivery red envelope icon. Updates are also available by liking the Indiana Department of Transportation East Central Facebook page and by following @INDOT_ECentral on Twitter.
