[DNR] Ouabache State Park to host garlic mustard pull, May 17
Start Date: 5/17/2014Start Time: 10:00 AM
End Date: 5/17/2014
Entry Description
Volunteers can help Ouabache State Park on May 17 by volunteering to help pull invasive garlic mustard.

The event starts at 10 a.m. with an orientation at the park office.

Garlic mustard has become a nuisance at the park, crowding out native wildflowers and preventing tree seedlings from growing.

Park naturalists will report the amount of garlic mustard removed as part of The Stewardship Network’s Garlic Mustard Challenge, a regional effort that aims to remove 300,000 pounds of the plant from local natural areas.

Participants should dress for outdoor work and bring gardening gloves. They are welcome to stay as long as they can.

Participants pulling mustard will be allowed into the park free of charge and should sign in at gatehouse by 10 a.m.

Ouabache State Park (stateparks.IN.gov/2975.htm) is at 4930 E. St. Rd. 201, Bluffton, 46714.
