[DNR] Eagle watch at the Falls of the Ohio SP, April 5
Start Date: 4/5/2014Start Time: 9:00 AM
End Date: 4/5/2014
Entry Description
Falls of the Ohio State Park visitors will get a rare chance to see a bald eagle nest through viewing equipment during a special event April 5.

The event is 9 a.m. to noon at the George Rogers Clark Home Site, 1102 W. Harrison Ave., Clarksville.

The eagle pair is already on the nest, which is about a half mile from the viewing site and only visible with a spotting scope or good pair of binoculars. Early spring provides a short window of opportunity to see the eagles before foliage obscures the nest.

Participants can bring their own viewing equipment. Those who don’t have such equipment can take turns seeing the eagles through provided equipment.

The event is organized by Naturalists at Heart, a volunteer program at Falls of the Ohio.

Last year the eagle pair fledged two eaglets.
