[ISP] Putnamville Troopers See Reduction in Weather Related Calls
Start Date: 1/8/2014Start Time: 12:00 AM
End Date: 1/8/2014
Entry Description

After a very busy 72 plus hours responding to various calls for service related to the winter storm, Putnamville troopers are beginning to see a reduction in those calls. From midnight to 4:30 this afternoon, troopers responded to:

Slide-offs 23
Property damage crashes 6
Assist mechanically disabled vehicles 16

The busiest sections of roadway during this period were Interstate 70 in Vigo County from the one to three mile marker and the 11mm to 13mm, in Clay County the 18mm to 24mm, and in Putnam County the 36mm to the 41mm.

Last evening and early this morning, Interstate 70 eastbound was briefly closed on three separate occasions for “jackknifed” tractor-trailers. Today, troopers responded to two “jackknifed” tractor-trailers and a semi rollover.

Interstate 70 in the Putnamville District is currently open with no problem areas. The roadway ranges from wet to scattered snow and slush spots. Most secondary roads remain snow covered slick and hazardous. Be vigilant and use caution.

Pictures attached are of a tractor-trailer rollover on the entrance ramp to eastbound Interstate 70, an SUV pulling a trailer had slid into the cable barrier on eastbound 70 near two mile marker, and a “jackknifed” semi in the eastbound lane of I-70 near the seven mile marker.
