[ISP] Explosive Device Found During Meth Arrests in Vigo County

Entry Description

Vigo County—On Thursday, April 25 at 11:15p.m., Indiana State Police Troopers were serving a Vigo County arrest warrant for the Manufacture of Methamphetamine on Jeffrey Taylor at 2920 East Moyer Drive in rural Vigo County. During the warrant service troopers discovered numerous items commonly associated with the manufacture of methamphetamine. In addition, troopers discovered one of the suspects, Donald Denehie, had a small explosive device on his person. The metal device was cylindrical and approximately five inches in length and two inches in diameter. Internally the device was filled with black powder. The Indiana State Police Explosive Ordnance team was contacted, rendered the item safe and destroyed it at the scene. The small explosive device if often referred to as a “cricket”.

Jeffrey Taylor, age 45, Terre Haute, IN. Dealing and Manufacture of Methamphetamine, B felony; Sale of Precursor, D felony; Pseudoephedrine storage and sale, D felony; Dumping Controlled Waste, D felony; Visiting a Common Nuisance, D felony.
 
Stephanie Frakes, age 25, Terre Haute, IN. Possession of Hypodermic Needle or
Syringe, D felony; Dealing and Manufacture of Methamphetamine, B felony; Sale of Precursor, D felony; Pseudoephedrine storage and sale, D felony; Dumping Controlled Waste, D felony; Visiting a Common Nuisance, D felony; Possession of Methamphetamine, D felony.
 
All suspects were incarcerated in the Vigo County Jail.

The investigation was conducted by members of the Putnamville District Meth Lab Enforcement Team, Troopers B.J. Patterson, Brent Robinson, Mike Wood, Shilo Raulston, Jason Kemp, and Jonathan Cumbie. Assisting were ISP EOD units and members of the Terre Haute Street Crimes Unit.
