Entry Description
Heltonville - March 2nd, just before 12:30 pm the Indiana State Police were contacted by the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department requesting assistance with a search for a missing person near Heltonville.
Indiana State Police Aviator Dave Ruegsegger responded to the area with the ISP Helicopter. Assisting Aviator Ruegsegger with the aerial search was Trooper Shea Teague of the Bloomington Post and Lawrence County Deputy Jody East.
The search from the air took just under an hour to complete as officers were able to locate Cory Joseph Alcorn, 33 of Heltonville near State Road 58 and Todd Lane. Alcorn was immediately transported to emergency care. It was discovered he had been in the wooded area throughout the night when temperatures were below freezing. His condition is not known.
Lt Paul Bucher, Commander of the Bloomington Post said "This case illustrates yet another example of law enforcement agencies working together to keep Hoosiers safe".
Photo- Cell phone image of the aerial view officers had when they spotted Alcorn. This shot shows of how difficult it is to find a person from the air. Alcorn is located near the middle of the picture.
