Kitchen Road to Close in Morgan County

Closure to begin on or after March 5

 

FIVE POINTS, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is announcing that beginning on or after Tuesday, March 5, Kitchen Road at State Road 144 (S.R. 144) in Morgan County will be closed.

 

Kitchen Road will be closed at the junction of S.R. 144 to begin the construction of an intersection improvement project.  INDOT’s contractor Rieth-Riley, will construct a single lane roundabout to replace the existing 4-legged intersection.  The purpose of the project is to enhance safety throughout the corridor while addressing increasing traffic volumes and accommodating turning movements.  Access to Kitchen Road from S.R. 144 will remain closed until work is completed.  Project completion is scheduled for November, 2013.  

 

Traffic along S.R. 144 will be maintained throughout the project but drivers may encounter traffic switches and lane restrictions.  A work zone speed reduction of 35 mph will be in posted and detour signs will also be in place to assist motorists in the area.
