Entry Description
STATEHOUSE (Feb. 6, 2013) – State Sen. Phil Boots (R-Crawfordsville) recently welcomed the following local students to the Statehouse, where they served as Senate pages:
• Aaron Cox, from Crawfordsville, attends Southmont High School.
• Derek Winter, from Zionsville, attends Zionsville Community High School.
Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing debates from the chamber floor and interacting with their state senators.
“The page program gives students from all over the state the opportunity to visit their Capitol, meet lawmakers and experience firsthand how laws are made in Indiana,” Boots said. “I encourage all middle school and high school students in our local communities to get involved, especially those with an interest in government or politics.”
Students in grades six through 12 can participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 4.
