Noblesville pastor leads the House in prayer
STATEHOUSE — John Davis, the pastor of the First Christian Church in Noblesville, recently led the Indiana House of Representatives in prayer from the House floor on the first day of session. Davis was the first pastor invited to the Statehouse for the 2013 legislative session to kick off the 118th General Assembly. He was asked to lead the House’s invocation as a part of the “Pastor of the Day” by State Representative Kathy Richardson (R-Noblesville).
"It was an honor to have my pastor, John Davis, at the Statehouse again to lead the House chamber in prayer," said Richardson. "The opening prayer always sets the tone for the day’s session, and he did just that. I feel privileged to have had him and his wife Stacey spend their time with us at the Statehouse."
Members of the House of Representatives invite religious leaders from their communities to start the legislative proceedings with a prayer before the opening of session each day. It is not only an opportunity to offer guidance to the representatives, but a chance for the leaders of Indiana's spiritual communities to visit the Statehouse, meet elect officials and witness a day of session.
Pastor Davis began his ministry as Senior Pastor December 1, 2009 and delivered his first sermon on December 6, 2009. He was ordained in First Christian Church in 2004 and has served churches in Markleville and Greenfield.
