Inaugural State of Higher Education Address

Entry Description
INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Higher Education Commissioner Teresa Lubbers will give the inaugural State of Higher Education address on the evening of January 9, 2013. The State of Higher Education address is part of an ongoing public engagement effort designed to increase the education level of all Hoosiers.

Only a third of Hoosier adults have completed education beyond high school, currently ranking Indiana 40th in the nation. The Commission has set the goal of increasing the proportion of Hoosiers with a high-quality degree or credential to 60 percent by 2025.

Lubbers will address the shared responsibility of the State, Indiana colleges and Hoosier students in maximizing the return on investment in higher education. Representatives from Indiana business, community, education and government will participate in a response panel discussion immediately following the Commissioner’s remarks.
