End Date: 8/5/2013End Time: 11:59 PM
Entry Description

Tippecanoe County-Today at approximately 12:34 a.m. on I-65 northbound near the 172 mile marker (that is at the State road 26 exit) a one vehicle rollover sends four to area hospitals.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Sean Schaefer of the Indiana State Police Lafayette Post has revealed that a red 1999 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Cory Allen, 19 years old from Oxford, IN was northbound when allegedly a rear tire blew out causing the Blazer to steer out of control. Allen over corrected causing the Blazer to roll several times before coming to rest on the driver’s side. Allen complained of pain and was transported to Franciscan St. Elizabeth Hospital East in Lafayette, IN. Allen was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The front seat passenger, Kyle Bryant, 18 years old from Lafayette was also transported to St. Elizabeth East with complaint of pain. He was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. The driver’s side back seat passenger, Cole Liggett, 18 years old from Otterbein, IN was transported to IU Arnett in Lafayette, IN with life threatening injuries. The middle seat passenger, Jordan Rooze, 19 years old from Oxford, IN was also transported to IU Arnett Hospital with complaint of pain. The right side back seat passenger, Nicholas Satchell, 18 years old from Otterbein, IN was not injured. All of the back seat passengers were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Cole Liggett, 18 years old from Otterbein, IN status at this time is listed in critical condition. Information released earlier stated that he had died due to his injuries at 5:30 a.m. today. That information was incorrect and the Indiana State Police and I, Sergeant Kim Riley deeply apologizes to family and friends of Cole Liggett for the misinformation that was released Sorry for any inconveniences and grief that this may have caused.

All the injured were transported from the scene by the Tippecanoe County Ambulances. It is unsure at this time if drugs and or alcohol played a part in the crash. Test results are pending. Assisting Trooper Schaefer at the scene was Sergeant Jason Ginder of the Bremen State Police Post, Troopers Tyler Stinson and Tyler Bentlage of the Lafayette State Police Post. The investigation is continuing.
