[DNR] Natural Resource Enterprises Workshop, Versailles

Location: Bob & Ellen Mulford’s Capability Farm, 128 E. County Road 200 South, Versailles, IN 47240.
Cost: $35 Purdue University & Ripley County SWCD will co-host a workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., on Wednesday Sept. 4 at Bob & Ellen Mulford’s Capability Farm outside of Versailles, Indiana, to show rural landowners how they can use the natural resources of their land for outdoor recreational businesses and other income-producing enterprises.   

Natural Resource Enterprises includes agritourism, trail riding, bird watching, hunting, fishing, bed-and-breakfast inns and more.  These can be a viable source of supplemental income for rural landowners. The workshop at the Capability Farm is for anyone who has such an enterprise or is interested in starting one.  The morning will include sessions on liability, business planning and successful business ventures. 

After a hot lunch, a field trip will focus on Warm Season Grasses, Quail Habitats, Wetlands and Habitat Diversity for Birds. Registration deadline is Aug. 27, and the cost is $35. On-site registration beings at 8:30 a.m. the day of the program and costs $45. Register online at www.hhhills.org/NRE-Workshop.html. The workshop is sponsored by Purdue University, Mississippi State University, Indiana Farm Bureau, the Nature Conservancy in Indiana, Mulford’s Capability Farm, Ripley County SWCD, Natural Resource Conservation Service, Historic Hoosier Hills RC&D, Purdue Extension Ripley County, Indiana Division of Forestry, Indiana Agricultural Law Foundation, and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
