[ISP] ISP Assists Sullivan Police with Explosive Materials and Meth Labs

Entry Description
Sullivan County—Indiana State Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal Troopers were dispatched to 550 East Washington Street in the City of Sullivan to assist the local police department with the discovery of explosive devices. During the explosives investigation, troopers also discovered an active “one pot” meth lab and the Putnamville District Meth Lab Enforcement Team was then summoned to complete the drug investigation.
 
The case originated this afternoon around 2:30, when Sullivan Police officers arrested Blake A. Boles, age 26, of Sullivan, IN. on a warrant and discovered two small explosive devices in Boles possession. Sullivan Police Department then requested ISP Explosive Ordnance Disposal units to deal with the devices. ISP EOD units rendered the two devices safe and collected them for evidence. Sullivan Police obtained a search warrant for the Boles residence and during the execution of the search warrant; ISP EOD units located five additional small homemade explosive devices, rendered them safe, and collected them for evidence. ISP EOD units and Sullivan Police officers also located a “one pot” active meth lab and numerous items related to the manufacture of methamphetamine. The Putnamville District Meth Lab Enforcement Team arrived and dismantled the active meth labs in the bathroom and garage, recovered nearly one ounce of finished meth product, and seized numerous items of drug paraphernalia.
 
ARRESTED: Blake A. Boles, age 26, of 550 East Washington, Sullivan, IN.
CHARGES: Possession of Methamphetamine, D felony; Possession of Hypodermic Syringe
 or Needle, D felony; Dealing and Manufacturing Meth, B felony; Sale of Precursor,
 D felony; Dumping Controlled Substance and Waste, D felony; Possession of
Paraphernalia, D felony; Visiting a Common Nuisance, A misdemeanor ISP Meth Lab Team
 
Troopers B.J. Patterson, Mike Wood and David Petrowski were responsible for the meth arrests, dismantling of the labs, and the collection of all drug related material. Trooper Erik Smith assisted.
 
Charges related to the explosive devices will be handled by the Sullivan Police Department. For full details of their charges, please contact the SPD at 812-268-4353.
 
The explosive devices were rendered safe and collected by ISP EOD units Sergeant Chad Hilton and Troopers Daniel Smith, Edward Kaucher, and Josh Greer.
