[DNR] Free Fishing Day, New Albany

Sam Peden Community Park, New Albany

With the support of the Floyd County Parks and Recreation Department, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (Divisions of State Parks and Reservoirs, and Fish and Wildlife) are hosting a free fishing day event on June 1, 2013 (on of Indiana’s free fishing days). Rods, reels, and bait with be supplied to children who attend with a guardian. Volunteers will be on site to show children how to fish and to assist them with their fishing experience. The event will occur rain or shine. Event headquarters is located at the first shelter house to your left as you enter the park on Alex Thom Drive.

Kiwanis Lake contains good fishing opportunities for largemouth bass, bluegill, and redear sunfish and is also receiving channel catfish stockings as one of the State’s Urban Fishing Program lakes.
