Entry Description
STATEHOUSE (Jan. 22, 2013) – State Sen. Mike Delph (R-Carmel) today held his annual town hall meeting at the Indiana Statehouse following Gov. Mike Pence’s State of the State Address.
Constituents viewed the broadcast of Pence’s remarks in the Senate Chamber after which Delph gave his immediate reaction to the speech. He praised Pence on his commitment to low tax, pro-jobs policies that he said will continue Indiana’s strong financial position.
“We as a state have a duty to be fiscally responsible,” Delph said. “Like all families, Indiana must live within its means and take the necessary actions to balance our budget. I trust that Gov. Pence will lead our state toward that goal.”
During the town hall meeting, Delph listened to constituents’ input on various issues, including:
- Mass transit
- Tax reform
- Preserving tobacco cessation funding
- Elimination of gun free zones
- A request to make a public memorial for Gold Star Families who lost loved ones in a time of war
“There is a lot to be done in the General Assembly, and it’s encouraging to see our citizens interested in what happens,” Delph said. “This town hall meeting allowed me to hear the perspective of Hoosiers from a variety of backgrounds, which I will carry on to my work in the Senate.” |
