Entry Description
DeKalb County, IN-A 39 year old woman from rural Angola was arrested last night by troopers from the Indiana State Police after they say she was in a broken down vehicle on the side of I-69, intoxicated and in possession of methamphetamine.
According to Trooper James Bailey at approximately 7:05 pm last night, he was dispatched to the area of the 325.5 mile marker on I-69, northbound, in DeKalb County to assist a motorist who had been reported to have been broken down. When he arrived, Bailey found 39 year old Rachael A. Reamer of rural Angola sitting in the driver’s seat of a 2000 Saturn passenger car that had a flat tire.
As Bailey began to speak with Reamer, he smelled what appeared to be the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her person. As he began his investigation into operating while intoxicated, he summoned the assistance of Trooper Justin Snyder. When Snyder arrived, he began to inventory Reamer’s vehicle as it was going to be impounded while Bailey transported Reamer to the DeKalb County Jail.
During the inventory, Snyder located several hypodermic needles inside of a satchel including one with a liquid which was later identified as methamphetamine. Other items associated with drug use, including an unknown substance were also located in the vehicle. The unknown substance was submitted to the Fort Wayne Regional Laboratory for analysis. As a result of Bailey’s investigation, he found that Reamer had a breath alcohol of .12% and she was incarcerated in the DeKalb County Jail on the following preliminary charges:
• Operating While Intoxicated Per Se, Class C Misdemeanor
• Operating While Intoxicated .08%-.14%, Class C Misdemeanor
• Possession of Paraphernalia, Class A Misdemeanor
• Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Class D Felony
• Possession of Methamphetamine, Class D Felony
• Possession of a Hypodermic Needle, Class D Felony
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. |
