MLK Drive Bridge Lawsuit Resolved
Superior and its Design-Build Partners reaffirmed in good standing with INDOT
INDIANAPOLIS — The parties involved in litigation regarding the closed Martin Luther King Drive Bridge over the I-80/94 Borman Expressway have agreed to resolve all claims amicably. Although liability was disputed, contractor Superior Construction Company, its designer and its primary material supplier have agreed to a negotiated settlement under which the three companies would pay INDOT a total of $1.35 million.
The settlement reaffirms Superior’s and its designer’s and suppliers’ longstanding relationship with INDOT. Over the last several decades, each of these companies has played a major role in the design and construction of hundreds of successful highway and bridge projects throughout Indiana.
INDOT closed the Martin Luther King Drive Bridge in May 2010 due to concrete cracking, the cause of which was disputed. It reopened to traffic in October following the completion of repairs. |
