Overnight Restrictions on I-465,
Allisonville Road This Week

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) contractors plan various nighttime traffic restrictions on I-465 and Allisonville Road this week.

Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 9 p.m., the left and center lanes of I-465 approaching Allisonville Road in both directions will be restricted as contractors paint the new Allisonville Road bridge beams.  The operation will require some temporary traffic stoppages lasting less than 20 minutes after midnight.  Traffic will not be permitted to pass under the painting operation for the safety of workers and motorists and to prevent damage to vehicles.  The lane restrictions are expected to end before 6 a.m. Wednesday.

The right and center lanes of I-465 approaching Allisonville Road in both directions will be restricted beginning Friday, Oct. 19 at 9 p.m. as contractors paint concrete and remove temporary barrier wall north and south of the interstate.  The lane restrictions are expected to end before 6 a.m. Saturday.

Drivers on Allisonville Road between 82nd and 86th Streets should expect temporary moving lane restrictions between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. each night this week through Saturday as crews work to place permanent pavement markings throughout the project work zone.

The $19 million project to reconstruct the bridge and interchange into a single-point design, which consolidates traffic signals at the top of the interstate ramps, intends to increase traffic carrying capacity and minimize congestion of one of the busiest interchanges in the Indianapolis metropolitan area.
