Entry Description
Pulaski County-Yesterday, afternoon, a Department of Corrections (DOC) van was involved in a crash where a driver had to be airlifted from the scene.
Preliminary investigation by Master Trooper Doug Parker revealed, that at approximately 4:17 p.m., yesterday, Thursday, October 11th, a 2012 Ford (DOC) van , driven by Michael Ritchey, 32 of Rockville, Indiana, was south on State Road 39 when he failed to yield the right of way at the intersection of State Road 14.
A 1999 Mercury, driven by Brandi N. Stone, 23 of Medaryville, was east on SR 14 when Ritchey failed to stop for the stop sign and hit Stone’s vehicle.
Stone was airlifted from the scene and taken to Parkview Regional Hospital in Fort Wayne with non-life threatening internal injuries. Stone was wearing a seat belt.
Ritchey was not injured. Ritchey also had two passengers in the van, one being a DOC prisoner he was transporting. Neither was injured. All were wearing their seat belts.
The Ford van sustained approximately $15,000 in damage and the Mercury sustained approximately $10,000.
