Santa Claus:  This afternoon the Indiana State Police investigated a crash on State Road 245 near County Road 1450 North that left a Ferdinand man injured.

Preliminary investigation reveals that at approximately 2:40 p.m. CDT, John H. Sitzman, 54, Ferdinand was driving a 2001 International semi-tractor loaded with logs northbound on SR 245.   As the truck entered a curve Sitzman lost control of the truck. The truck rolled over onto its passenger’s side and the load of logs came loose from the truck.  Sitzman was trapped in the cab of the truck and had to be extricated from the truck by members of the Santa Claus and Carter Township Fire Departments.

Sitzman was transported to Jasper Memorial for treatment of non life threatening injuries and then transferred to St. Mary’s in Evansville.  He was not wearing a seatbelt

The semi-tractor trailer was a total loss.

Sitzman was cited for not wearing his seatbelt.
