Clay County—At 9:53 this morning, Indiana State Police troopers and Clay County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported bank robbery at the First Financial Bank located at 8490 East State Road 42 in Poland.

Clay County Sheriff Mike Heaton was first on the scene at 10:05a.m., and was unable to locate a suspect.

Preliminary investigation by Indiana State Police and Clay County Sheriff’s investigators revealed a suspect entered the bank, displayed a dark colored handgun, and demanded money from one of two tellers on duty. The suspect was given an undisclosed amount of US currency and fled the bank on foot toward the east. There were no customers in the bank and no injuries were reported.

The description of the suspect was a white male, possibly in his 30’s, wearing a khaki ball cap, sunglasses, light colored scarf over face, blue sweatshirt, blue pants, and light colored tennis style shoes. There is no vehicle description available.

The lead investigators are ISP Detective Sam Stearley and Clay County Sheriff’s Detective Jerry Siddens.
