[INDOT] Public Hearing regarding a proposed widening and intersection improvement project on S.R. 1 from just south of S.R. 116 to just south of Spring Street intersection in Bluffton, Wells County

Entry Description
The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at 6:00p.m. in the Bluffton High School Cafeteria (enter through door 1 - Main Entrance), 1 Tiger Trail in Bluffton, Indiana.  The purpose of the public hearing is to offer all interested persons an opportunity to comment on current design plans for the proposed S.R. 1 widening and intersection improvement project beginning just south of S.R. 116 and ending approximately just south of the intersection with Spring Street in Bluffton, Wells County.

The proposed improvements consist of widening on both sides of S.R. 1 to add a center continuous two-way left turn lane.  The existing shoulders will be replaced with concrete curb and gutter with concrete driveways added for access to the properties along the road.  Also included is the closing of the intersection of Scott Street with S.R. 1.  As a result of the Scott Street closing, a 120ft diameter cul-de-sac centered approximately 360ft south of Spring Street is proposed.  In addition, the project proposes road drainage improvements.  The project proposal will be explained in greater detail during the formal presentation at the public hearing.

The hearing will feature a formal presentation, a public comment session where interested persons will have an opportunity to present comments formally for the public record, and an informal open house session where the community stakeholders will have an opportuinty to talk with project officials one-on-one and view project displays, maps and informational materials.
