Entry Description
Lake County-Indiana State Police Trooper John Holman responded to a single vehicle crash this evening when a driver lost control due to a medical condition.
Preliminary investigation revealed at approximately 6:26 pm, this evening, Janusz Trytek, 51 of Schiller Park, Illinois was west bound on I-80 exiting to the Cline Avenue ramp to go northbound when due to a medical condition his 2007 Volvo semi pulling a box trailer left the roadway, went down an embankment 188 feet before it stopped because of heavy woods/foliage. The semi was hauling 44,480 pounds of paper rolls. The semi is owned by Eastway Transportation Corporation out of Bensenville, Illinois. The load was coming from Port Newark, New Jersey going to Hartford, Wisconsin.
The semi remained upright and no load was loss. The ramp is closed for removal of the semi and the trailer.
Trytek was taken to Saint Catherine’s Hospital in East Chicago for evaluation. He was cited for a log book violation.
