Entry Description
Gibson County – Monday night, August 20, at approximately 8:35 p.m., Indiana State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on S.R. 57 at S.R. 64 in Oakland City that seriously injured a motorcyclist.
Preliminary investigation revealed Brittany Bauer, 18, of Vincennes, was driving her 1998 Infinity southbound on S.R. 57 approaching S.R. 64. Bauer turned east onto SR 64 and failed to yield the right of way to a motorcycle that was traveling northbound on S.R. 57. The rider of the motorcycle, Michael Shafer, 43, of Oakland City, collided into the passenger side of Bauer’s vehicle. Shafer was airlifted to Deaconess Hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries. He was not wearing a helmet. Bauer was not injured.
The investigation is continuing.
