Entry Description
US 40 West Construction
Shifting Into Next Phase
**UPDATE**
INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) contractors plan to shift traffic tonight on US 40/West Washington Street to begin the next phase of construction west of I-465.
The phase change, originally scheduled for Monday, will shift traffic on westbound US 40/West Washington Street to new pavement on the north side of the roadway between I-465 and Glen Arm Road. Eastbound traffic will remain in its current configuration on the south side of the roadway as crews from Walsh Construction rebuild the center lanes. Two lanes of traffic will remain open in both directions.
Alternating lane restrictions in both directions should be expected between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. as crews modify pavement markings and implement the traffic shift.
This phase of the project is expected to last about one month. The next phase will shift eastbound traffic to share the north side of US 40/West Washington Street as new eastbound lanes on the south side of the road are reconstructed. The project is expected to be complete by the end of the year.
