Spencer County:  The Indiana State Police is currently investigating the death of a 20 year old Owensboro, KY man.

Preliminary information reveals that early this morning Cody L. Bailey, 20, Owensboro was brought into the Owensboro Medical System emergency room suffering from a gunshot wound.  A short time later he was pronounced dead.

Overnight a group of people had gathered on West River Road in Spencer County for a social gathering.  At some point in the gathering a handgun was brought out and Cody was shot.  After being shot a male and female put Cody in a car and transported him to the emergency room.

“Right now we are in the process of interviewing those that might have witnessed what took place and at this time we do not know if the shooting was intentional or accidental,” said First Sergeant Robert Priest.

An autopsy is scheduled for later today in Louisville, KY.

Anyone that was at the gathering on West River Road and has not already spoken with the police is asked to call the Jasper State Police Post at 812-482-1441.
