Entry Description
Tippecanoe County- On July 7th, 2012 at approximately 11:29 p.m, a traffic stop was made on I-65 north bound near the 178 mile marker resulting in a suspect going to jail for possession of illegal drugs.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Trooper Darrick Scott of the Lafayette State Police Post stopped a silver 2001 Volkswagen for a minor traffic violation. During the conversation with the driver Andrew P. Amrein, 22 years old from Okeana, OH Trooper Scott became suspicious of criminal activity. A request for a K-9 search was made by Trooper Scott and Officer Brewer of the West Lafayette Police Department arrived with his K-9 partner Rico. The dog alerted on the car and a subsequent search discovered a substance that tested positive for heroin.
Amrein was taken into custody and transported to the Tippecanoe County Jail on preliminary charge of Possession of a Schedule I or II Drug a Class D Felony. The investigation is continuing.
All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. |
