Entry Description
Knox County – Friday night, June 29, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Trooper Doug Francis was patrolling on Noble Avenue near Niblack Road when he observed two four-wheelers riding on the roadway without lights. Trooper Francis attempted to stop both four-wheelers, but the riders disregarded a stop sign and accelerated onto Niblack toward Schoolhouse Road. Officers lost sight of the four-wheelers as they drove over the levee. Approximately 20 minutes later, a concerned citizen contacted police about a vehicle that possibly picked up the two males that fled from police. Within minutes, Knox County Sheriff’s Deputies and Indiana State Police stopped a 1999 Ford Explorer on River Road near Schoolhouse Road. The driver identified himself as Daryl Elmore, 35, of Olney, IL. Three passengers in the truck were identified as Danny Ray Elmore, 34, of Olney, IL, Ryan Smith, 29, and Travis Thacker, 27, both from Vincennes. Further investigation revealed Daryl Elmore and Thacker had picked up Smith and Danny Elmore near the levee after they allegedly fled from police on their four-wheelers. All four men were arrested and taken to the Knox County Jail where they are currently being held on bond.
