Seelyville – (Vigo County) Indiana State Police Criminal Investigation Division Detectives investigated the death of a Vigo County man wanted on warrant. Justin Compton, 26 of Seelyville was pronounced dead just before midnight by the Vigo County Coroner’s Office.

Officers spotted Compton around 9:00 pm in a front yard residence in Seelyville, when he fled into a wooded area, just north of Baker Street.  Officers pursued Compton, established a perimeter and called a K9 Officer from Terre Haute Police Department to the scene. Once the K9 Officer located him, Compton allegedly made an aggressive action towards the officer with a knife. That action prompted the officer to allegedly shoot Compton to stop the aggressive action.

An autopsy is scheduled for 8:00 am in Terre Haute.
