Entry Description
Vigo County—This afternoon at 12:08, the US Marshal Service Fugitive Task Force attempted to serve an arrest warrant on a wanted man in the area of 25th Street and Ft. Harrison Road. As the task force (comprised of officers from the departments of US Marshals Service, Indiana State Police, and Terre Haute Police) approached the vehicle, the wanted man, along with an unknown male and female, fled on foot. Officers from multiple agencies responded to the scene and established security perimeters.
At 12:41, a state trooper spotted two males walking along the railroad tracks near Fruitridge and Maple Avenues. The suspects spotted the trooper as well and fled into a nearby wooded area. Minutes later, K-9 units from the Terre Haute Police Department deployed into the wooded area and located the original person wanted on warrant. He was taken into custody and transported to the Vigo County Jail. An exhaustive search of the area failed to yield the remaining two suspects.
John Robert Brown, age 31, of Terre Haute was wanted on Vigo County Court Division 5 warrants for (2) counts of Possession of Methamphetamine, D felony; (2) counts of Resisting Law Enforcement, D felony; (2) counts of Resisting Law Enforcement, A misdemeanor; (2) counts of Driving While Suspended, A misdemeanor; (1) count of Reckless Driving, B misdemeanor; and (1) count of Failure to Stop for Accident-Damage to Unattended Vehicle, Class B misdemeanor. From today’s event, Brown was charged with an additional count of Resisting Law Enforcement, A misdemeanor. Brown is held without bond.
The other male and female, both unknown at this time, are still at large, but are believed to not be a threat to the public. The investigation into their identity is underway.
Multiple officers from the US Marshal’s Service, Indiana State Police, Vigo County Sheriff’s Office, and the Terre Haute Police Department were responsible for the apprehension and search of the area.
Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. |
