TWO ARRESTED FOR MURDER IN FATAL ATTICA FIRE
Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office assists in investigation
FOUNTAIN COUNTY - A joint investigation by several local law enforcement, local fire departments and the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office has led to multiple charges being filed, including murder and arson, against two Warren County residents.
David Purcell and Raymond L.S. Brown were charged in Fountain County with murder, arson resulting in bodily injury, and burglary resulting in bodily injury. The charges stem from a fatal fire on May 8, 2012 in Attica, Indiana. Ronnie Shoaf, 64, died after the house caught fire.
The Indiana Fire Marshal’s Office is a division of the Indiana Department of Homeland Security.
On June 13, 2012, members of the Indiana Fire Marshal’s Office along with members of the Fountain County Sheriff’s Department, Warren County Sheriff’s Department, Attica Police Department, Attica Fire Department, Mellott Fire Department, and members of the West Point Fire Department executed three separate search warrants based on new information developed from their investigations.
On June 15, 2012, both men were arrested and are being held in jail with no bond.
