Entry Description
Noble County, IN—The Indiana State Police investigated a two vehicle crash this morning on State Road 9, just north of Merriam that sent a rural Albion woman to the hospital with internal, head and neck injuries.
According to Sergeant Max Weber, at approximately 9:55 am, a 1997 Ford Van driven by Thomas Renkenberger, 73 of rural Albion was stopped on southbound State Road 9 at the intersection with County Road 400 S waiting for northbound traffic to clear. His intention was to make an eastbound turn onto CR 400 S when his vehicle was rear-ended by a 1994 Oldsmobile driven by Terri Lynn Platt, 36 of rural Albion.
Platt, who was wearing her seatbelt, and whose vehicle airbags deployed, suffered internal, head and neck injuries and was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital. Renkenberger, who was also wearing his seatbelt, was not injured. State Road 9 was closed for approximately one hour while emergency crews worked to clear the wreckage from the roadway.
Platt was cited for following too closely and for operating without proof of financial responsibility. Agencies assisting at the scene were the Noble County Sheriff, Albion and Noble Township Fire Departments and Noble County EMS. |
